Tours of the Cemetery

Guided Tours

Island Cemetery and Lew Keen are presenting tours every Saturday starting on June 15, 2024. These tours will highlight people buried on our grounds while promoting appreciation of our landscaped arboretum and our outdoor sculptural museum. Please register by donating $15 per adult, $5 for children under 10 years of age.

Fall Tours

Fall is the perfect time to take a guided tour of the Island Cemetery! The cemetery is an outdoor sculpture park and arboretum that oozes with history.

Offered this fall will be the Highlights Tour that includes some of the people who made the city what it is today.  The September special tour will feature Gilded Age Graves and the October tour will focus on Richard Morris Hunt.  

All tours start at the Warner Street entrance to the site at 10am and end in the Belmont Chapel. Tickets are $15 person for adults and $5 per child under the age of 5 years.

Lew and Trudy Keen collaborated with Island Cemetery staff and Tanya Kelley to develop the brochure shown on the left. You can use the brochure to create your own self guided tour described below. Download and print it or pick one up in the administration building to facilitate you in your search for the famous people described in the themed tours. Self Guided Tours

The themed tours created by Lew and Trudy Keen and listed and linked below include a map showing the location of each stop on the tour followed by information about the person or the monument.  The print version ( for some tours only) is not illustrated (it does include the map) so less paper is needed, but the information is the same as the other version.
